Merv Shiner  180X135  72Friday night February 26, 2016 Jack Boland will be doing a live interview with Merv Shiner who will be celebrating his 95th birthday February 20, 1921. Merv Shiner was the first person to record the song "Here Comes Peter Cottontail" and had a million seller on this song. It was the beginning of a wonderfull career for Merv. Jack Boland and the guys at "Country Gold Classics" are looking forward to the live broadcast with "Merv Shiner".

Country singer Sonny James, who recorded romantic ballads like Young Love and turned pop songs into country hits, died on February 22, 2016 at the age of 87 in hospice care in Nashville, Tennessee. Sonny James was known as the "Southern Gentleman" for his gentle manners. James was born James Hugh Loden in Hackelburg, Alabama, and Sonny James was already singing for an audience at age four with other members of his family. He was inducted into the Country Music Hall Of Fame in 2006 and the Alabama Music Hall Of fame in 1987. To read more, see pics and videos......>> Click Here!

Dewitt (Scotty) Scott Has Passed Away!


Jack Boland is so saddened by the loss of his friend DeWitt "Scotty" Scott for whom he has known for over 20 years. Scotty was a listener of Jack's show and loved the Stars Of The Steel Guitar portion of "Country Gold Classics" show. Scotty Scott is the founder of the International Steel Guitar Convention and is truly, the "Ambassador Of The Steel Guitar". Scotty Scott is in the "Steel Guitar Hall Of Fame".

DeWitt "Scotty" Scott has gone to steel guitar heaven at age 83. Dewitt "Scotty" Scott was born on April 10, 1932 in Amarillo, Texas and died on September 23, 2015. He was a very nice guy who was always willing to take time to share what he knew. Scotty Scott started the annual "International Steel Guitar Convention" 40+ years ago. "Scotty" will be greatly missed by all of us!

Jack Boland announced on January 29, 2016 on his radio show that Country Legend Merle Haggard has been fighting double pneumonia, an illness that has plagued him in the past. Ben Haggard says his father is still recovering from December illness. The 78 year-old singer had to cancel all weekend concerts and tour dates. Haggard said, "I guess I was nearly dead. I had double pneumonia and they couldn't tell whether I had cancer that returned, or whether I just had pneumonia. They had to wait til they got the pneumonia under control before we could tell. So it's been kind of a tough couple of weeks, but I've got so many people to thank." Give prayers to Merle!

The 11th Annual "Main Street Hatboro Train Show" is going to be held on Saturday, December 3, 2016 from 9 AM to 3 PM. The location is at the Keith Valley Middle School, Horsham, Pennsylvania. Admission $5.00 and children under 12 are admitted free. "Jack" will be there with his "O" guage bridge building display along with his friends and their railroad train exhibits. Bill Turner Visits Radio Station


Haley Group Pic 7-3-15  72 Bill Turner and his band Blue Smoke visited Jack Boland and Country Gold Classics to celebrate their 10th Annual Tribute to Bill Haley and the Saddlemen along with some good friends to help in the celebration. Sadly, this was the first tribute show without Eric Knutsen (Eric The "K") on bass who passed away on February 4, 2015. Eric was 65 years old. Eric was a great guy and made everyone laugh. Eric the "K" will be dearly missed. For this trubute, the band has welcomed Jim Thompson (on the right) who was kind enough to play bass guitar. A local band from Edgehill, Pennsylvania known as the Edge Hill Rounders performed live on June 5, 2015. The Edge Hill Rounders were a guest band hosted by Jack Boland and his "Country Gold Classics" show on WRDV - FM 89.3 on the radio. They performed several songs of the traditional sound of country music. Frank Crispo, The Country Picker stopped by and really enjoyed the guys and their song selections. Everyone had a "Great Time"!

On May 13, 2016 John Lyons had the opportunity to fill in for Jack Boland on "Country Gold Classics". Jack and his lovely wife took a well deserved vacation. John Lyons is the newest team member who works behind the scenes at WRDV-FM. John does the broadcasting of the weather forecasts and Public Broadcasting Announcements. John Lyons does a great job and everyone enjoys having John on the team. John is showing Marteka and William Lake's new CD.

March 27, 2015 show, Jack Boland (front row) had some visitors to the radio station. Todd Allen (left back row) is the vice president and general manager of WRDV FM radio station. Charlie Loughery (right back row) is the owner of WRDV - FM and WBYO - FM (The Word FM) Gospel radio net work. Everyone joined in along with Jack Boland for his special tribute program to Frank Napurano who passed away on March 20, 2015. The fellows all knew Frank when he had his program, "Country Jamboree" at WRDV - FM. Frank was a "Great" guy and he will be missed! God Bless!
